Unalome

UNALOME

When I first thought of getting a tattoo it was with the intention that I would get one with a story to tell, something deep rooted and meaningful, that blended as part of my body not just a fixture paying rent and full of regret.

I had always visualized a couple things over the years....but never felt the urge to get one "just because" as that is not really my style. It was beyond clear when I was in India that it would be happening and a tattoo was in my future. I originally was going to get it done in India, but waited for the sake of 1.) hygiene purposes  2.) Mostly wanted to ensure I was going to seek out the BEST artist in the game. Someone with the same sense of visual style, quality detail and with a meticulous eye/mindset that I too have as a creative being.

UNDERSTANDING THE MEANING…

The top part- The divine significance of the Endless Knot is that it represents the connection between one's spiritual path, the movement of time, and the omnipresent Buddha self or divine eternal consciousness.

The bottom part- The unalome symbol represents the path to enlightenment. The spirals are meant to symbolize the twists and turns in life, and the straight lines the moment one reaches enlightenment or peace and harmony.

I was referred to go to Man Yao from My Tattoo. Not only have I seen the quality of his work, but his style matched what I had visualized while in India. Man is so amazing that when I got back from India (besides having to wait till after my Triathlon for healing purposes) it took me about 3 months before I was able to get in to see him. I didn't mind waiting. Although the idea of what I wanted was there, the meaning and purpose continued to steep and come alive as the sketches and printouts formulated the final artistry. Tattoos are so powerful and hold so much meaning, especially mine: to me and for me.

I've been so eager to share this with you guys because I feel that it is so symbolic of the life I choose to live, a beautiful memory of a life changing experience and rebirth of myself with an open heart and mind to my future and spiritual path. I decided to put it on my calf as it truly represents that path I take daily as I observe more thoroughly and walk my path in life more aware. The truth of my self-value, happiness, peace, compassion and love. Life is a journey to be spent happy, whole, true to one's-self, filled with joy and connection. Man is super informative, gentle, and communicative before/during/after. I listened to music and I fell asleep for most of it, no it wasn't painful and I actually enjoyed the feel of it. I can't wait for my next one.....sooner than later.
